Wow, time truly flies and it's our third anniversary!
We have really grown from being a small retailer who started the website selling party supplies (!), to having our own line, and this means so much to me.
There were many photo shoots and friendships forged in the first two years, but I always felt that something was still amiss.
It was not until early this year when a manufacturer stopped working with us, that I realized in order to make BELLS & BIRDS succeed, I had to create my own line. And that meant learning to sew from scratch. Every step from drafting the paper pattern, sourcing the laces from various suppliers, cutting the fabrics, and putting it all together at home.
Honestly, this wouldn't have been possible without my supportive mother-in-law. She is a great woman, a master of all trades. She used to sew the curtains for the Sultan of Brunei, and has sewn wedding dresses. In fact, she was even more excited to sew my robes, than me. I was really just so stressed and kept thinking if this would work at all, because I couldn't even sew a button!
My family has been very sweet, helping out whenever they can, and really, none of this would be possible without them.
It's funny how I founded BELLS & BIRDS as a namesake to represent "Wedding Bells for Lovebirds", yet now we have a growing base of mommy customers. It doesn't matter who I am creating the robes for, I just know that every woman deserves to feel beautiful inside out, every day.
Our business is still very much in its infancy and there is a lot more that I need to learn, want to do and hope to achieve.
And I wish that I will see the business through in years to come, and read back on this entry, knowing that I still keep true to my belief, and continue creating beautiful keepsakes for women all over the world.
